Queimado is a collective exhibition of contemporary ceramics that is diverse in application of the medium and individual expressions in the use and purpose of ceramics. Clay, the basis or origin has been wrapped rolled thrown ,fired and decorated to be the many different forms and applications in this showing of individual artists.
It incorporates both domestic objects such as Zimbabwean Marjorie Wallace’s exquisite hand painted porcelain bowls, Berry Bickle’s elegant vases and the sculptural in Victor Sousa’s statuesque feminine forms. Reinata Sadimda brings to her Makonde narrative an application that binds a traditional form to a self expression that transforms her personas to contemporary icons of what is perhaps a vanishing practice, that of African traditional ceramics..Titos Pelembe achieves a purity of sculptural form through strong clear linear moulding of clay and whimsical mixtures of mixed elements to create a ‘new’ object that allude to musical instruments .Mieke Oldenburg's delicately featured busts are the sensitivity of clay moulded to fine intricate surfaces. The participating artists are intimately engaged in the ceramic process and each of their works a tribute to the extensive and ever evolving art form that is ceramics

Pinhole Photography - Douglas Nicolson
In Pinhole photography a smal hole replaces the glass photographic lens. Light passes through the hole and because it travels in a straight line an inverted image is projected inside a light-proof box or camera obscura (in latin "camera" is a "room" and "obscura" means "dark"). By placing light sensitive paper or film in the camera obscura a photographic negative can be produced.
These basic optical principles were first commented on in chinese texts from as early as the fifth century BC. The title of this exhibition references the book "The Dream Pool Essays" by the chinese scientist and statesman Shen Kuo (1031 - 1095 AD) in which he documented his experiments with the camera obscura.
